Sea Hags opened its doors in August 2013 and has been going strong ever since. From a simple beginning, we dreamed of sharing art with the people of this wonderful coastal town. Melissa has always wanted to share a space with many artists who collaborate and are excited about art. We have held many art classes for the community as well as linking with the middle and high schools hosting a Teen Art Contest, which was judged by our customers. Sea Hags is filled with local art work from over twenty artists.
As well as being a huge supporter of our local art community, Sea Hags continues to source American made products and products from the global community that are fare trade green products which are manufactured by small companies who have close standing relationships with their artisans.
We love color and texture, we love the natural feel of wood, worn by years in the sea or fresh from the mill. We love photography and paintings that inspire wonder and curiosity. We are passionate about giving back to others and sharing with others, the coral that we have in the shop is considered "vintage coral" that was handed down to us from a shop that closed many years ago. We do not source new coral and we donate 50% of the proceeds of our coral to Oceana or the National Wildlife Federation. We find inspiration in all medias, and carry a wide selection of organically inspired creations, ceramic mugs and bowls, nature and wildlife paintings and photography as well as a variety of baskets woven from grasses and pine needles.
